In a surprise change of tactics that his lawyers thought was extremely stupid James Kopp admitted that he brutally murdered Dr. Slepian, but maintains he is innocent. Trying to appeal to fundy logic Kopp says it isn't murder if you only intended to wing the guy but your bad aim caused him to die. Kopp is pro-life after all and murder is just abhorrent to him, that's what he was thinking when he was lining up Slepian in his gun sights. Before Kopp admitted he slaughtered the doctor the antis were agreeing saying that Kopp was a true Christian who loved life and could never kill like the doctors allegedly do. Of course that has all changed, well mostly.

Once Kopp admitted he killed the doctor in cold blood the people who hailed him as a hero were quick to denounce him as a false Christian and a murderer. Wichita hate group Missionaries to the Unborn documented their journey into paranoia. Once Kopp was charged with murder MTTU claimed it was a Clinton conspiracy to protect reproductive freedom:

"Can you honestly tell me that the Clinton Administration did not subvert justice to serve what they felt was a higher good? I believe the Reno ruled Department of Justice saw this as an opportunity to politically protect abortion on demand."

And since it was a huge conspiracy there was planted evidence, just like at the O.J. trial:

"I had to ask myself why a man so smart as to allude the FBI for two-and-a-half years would leave the murder weapon and a hat covered with DNA evidence wrapped in a plastic bag at the scene of the crime. The mastermind Kopp buried his DNA rich hat in a plastic bag to ensure the integrity of the evidence against him? Didn't Jim watch the OJ Simpson trial?"

We at Maggot Punks never accused the antis of being intelligent. With Kopp admitting his involvement in the murder should we assume that Kopp is simply a tool recruited by the pro-choice movement? Before you think mttu.com is alone in the paranoid thinking it runs rampant in the anti-choice community. The criminal anti-choice group Life Dynamics, which illegally wiretapped Planned Parenthood clinics also claims a conspiracy.

Anti-choice advocates have even went as far as to claim Slepian was killed by pro-choicers in an effort to frame Kopp:

Kopp was known for hanging out with the criminal organization Operation Rescue which operates in Wichita. Troy Newman, the criminal organizer of what he calls Operation Rescue West (name changed to avoid paying legal damages under the name Operation Rescue) recruited Kopp many years ago. Newman insists that his organization is non-violent however last year they had one of their so-called Truth Trucks confiscated as it was found to be shipping a large cache of rifles and ammunition to Wichita to protest the clinics for the Summer of Mercy. Ghandi was probably known for packing a couple of 9mm during his time of peaceful resistance.

MTTU.com claims it doesn't support violence against doctors but that's really hard to tell when they openly support violent hate groups like Army of God. MTTU.com celebrates the criminal history of it's members glorifying people like Dennis Malvasi who was arrested in connection with Kopp. The so-called peaceful anti-abortionists were seen consorting with Army of God members and murder advocates Neal Horsley and Jonathan O'Toole.

What isn't surprising is the complete turn around of many of the Christians who once stood by Kopp and proclaimed his innocence. Troy Newman quickly denounced Kopp as a murderer and a false Christian. MTTU even tried condemning Kopp the same week they praised him yet in the same article they continue to profess his innocence. We would figure supporters of murder like MTTU would know a little about firearms. Using a Russian assault rifle to wound a guy is like using dynamite to remove a clump of crabgrass. It is a bit of overkill with kill being the main intent of the shooter.

The anti-abortionists have always lived in a state of denial. Even as the bullets are flying and death threats ring in the ears they will continue to claim they are peaceful and respect life. This isn't the first example of the so-called pro-lifers attempting to execute their perceived enemies. Shelly Shannon came to Wichita with the intent on murdering Dr. Tiller. Luckily she failed but to no surprise the antis feigned shock saying how she was a non-violent Christian, just like Paul Hill, Michael Griffin, Clayton Waagner and finally James Kopp. The pattern is the same. Authoritarian people with poor social skills get deeply indoctrinated into religion, become fanatics and kill in the name of their god. When a fundamentalist Muslim does it the entire religion and it's followers are condemned, when a fundamentalist Christian does it he or she is an exception to the rule. The fundamentalist "pro-life" Christians may not be strapping bombs to their bodies but the pattern is the same. Once this nation actually begins a war on terrorism the first criminal organizations to be shut down will be the anti-abortion terrorists.
