| We really have dinosaurs today, without any question. You just need the right weather conditions, as I see it, to get huge creatures. And in the ocean, of course, we have huge creatures....this is where the plesiosauruses seem to be today, and perhaps also this fire breathing dragon is still down there -- very rare, but occasionally there. -- Rev. Death and Taxes, I'll Take Either |

I could say the election period brought out the worst in the FFF but I've never seen one of their better moments. The conservatives made all efforts to spread lies and distortions about their opponents, they even went as far as to openly break the law. Driving down Harry Street one day we observed an abhorrent violation of the law committed by none other than Spirit One Christian Center. Spirit One is run by self-proclaimed pastor Mark Holick, an associate of ex-con Daniel Thompson, and his band of Christian terrorists in Operation Save America. As can be seen by the picture on the right the message is loud and clear, an anti-Sebelius political ad on the tax-exempt church sign. The political message is a clear violation of 501(c) policy. on page four of the IRS's Publication 1828 Tax Guide for Churches and Religious Organizations there is the clear statement, "They must not participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public officer." The manual plainly points out that religious property is tax-exempt when it is used for religious purposes. Placing a political ad on a tax-exempt sign is an obvious violation of that policy. A representative of the church insists they did nothing wrong because |

the sign didn't say the magic word "vote." That's a cute cop-out since the message is implied as with all political ads during an election period. The church supported it's argument with some diatribe about how a church can be used as a polling place therefore ads on the church sign are completely acceptable. Needless to say the spokesperson isn't terribly bright. The IRS
can always use more encouragement. The Wichita IRS office can reached
at 271 W. Third St. N. A simple 37 cent stamp can cause this "church" to lose it's tax exempt status generating tens of thousands of dollars in tax revenue. Think of how many starving people could be fed or how many polluted rivers can be cleaned up with that sort of revenue. If churches were taxed like the businesses they are then we'd see a huge surplus and a tax decrease. |
