And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in shewing that religion & Govt will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together. --James Madison

Happy Independence day!

The great debate over the Pledge of Allegiance couldn't have come at a better time. This day when we celebrate the struggle for freedom, but the struggle is far from over. Now we have those who impose religious tyranny upon the nation that values its freedom of religion more than any other nation.

You can squawk and bitch about it all you want but the words "under god" do not belong in the Pledge of Allegiance. You may point the pathetic posing session that the US congress engaged in as "proof" that this is a Christian nation.

There is a lot more that could be said here but I found an article that I think sums it up very well. Click here to read it.

The pledge battle is far from over. Religious zealots will appeal it all the way to the Supreme Court. Given their mind boggingly questionable actions over the last 2 years, it's anybody's ballgame at this point. The pledge battle isn't the last of its kind either. Next we will have to get "in god we trust" off of our currency. Doesn't really matter though because the eye on top of the pyramid on the back of the one dollar bill will soon be changed to the triangular AOL-Time Warner logo any way.

The Maggot Punks are celebrating our first full month of irritating FFF's here at our new cyber home. We have had a few "people" who tried to push us around but they found out very quickly that we push back, hard.

Like Lisa who said she was going to sue us over the pictures of children. Still waiting on the subpoenas, Lisa.

The real truth is that most FFF's are afraid to take us on. We specialize in shedding the light of reality on them and then they run for cover. Brad Bennett says that we have "forfeited our right to an adult conversation". That's true, because we are trying to have a conversation with Brad. Yet Brad is such a coward he won't send us a single email or join our discussion forums. C'mon Brad, if you are "storming the gates of hell" and are armed with the "truth" then you shouldn't be afraid to openly debate us.

Noted terrorist for Christ, Jonathan O'Toole paid us a visit. We tried to get him talking but punked him out in one day. That's pretty sad.

The point is, if you're so right and we're so wrong, prove it. Surely the bible can stand up to a little criticism from some "demon possessed homosexuals". Join our discussion forums today. Here are 4 good reasons to join:

  • Don't cost nothin'.
  • Fully functional XMB interface, smileys, custom avatars, and advanced BB code is available.
  • We do not edit posts. You can write whatever you would like and it will stay there until the Army Of God kills us and we can no longer renew our hosting contract.
  • You might actually convert someone and get them to join your cult!

The Maggot Punks own Dig Doug Deeper has produced an outstanding comentary on the struggle keep church and state seperate. Please take a moment to read the excellent essay below. If you have questions or comments, please Email D-cubed or send your message directly to the Maggot Punk webmaster.

Declaration of Independence for Atheists

Can you believe that over 200 years ago we had politicians and national leaders protesting tyranny? Not just any ol' tyranny but tyranny of a theocratic government demanding adherence to a religious view. Today the leaders of America believe they are continuing that tradition, but they actually hold the position of King George the third. They announce there is freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. Under King George there was freedom of religion, you had the freedom to be an Anglican but you didn't have the freedom from the Anglican church.

There exists this twisted view that the Founders had the concept of Carte Blanche for religious institutions. Should we simply believe that the Founders were so ignorant of history, especially the history of the Catholic church who had Carte Blanche over all of Europe? There was no desire to replace one tyranny for another. The Anglican church was to be thrown out, along with all the official churches of the colonies. Once the nation was established with the Constitution all taxes that went to promote the Church were abolished.

Modern politicians seek to reverse something so basic in the Constitution by expanding the special privileges of the churches. Not merely content with numerous tax breaks (no sales tax, no property tax, no income tax) they have established laws allowing for tax money to go directly to churches. The Supreme Court has sided with the conservative Christian Congress and said money can be indirectly shuffled to churches by paying for their buses, sanitation, police protection, etc. as long as it doesn't go directly to religious promotion. Of course that simply leaves more money for religious propaganda since the other bills are paid for by the taxpayers. Now the Court has ruled that money can go directly to religious promotion in the guise of education or school choice. Why not simply announce a special tax for churches. The theocrats have re-written history to declare that the Founders were not opposed to promotion of religion but sought to directly finance religion with taxpayer funds.

Where is the outrage? The mutterings of the millions of educated Americans are silenced by the conservative religious controlled media. The uneducated and the willfully ignorant are well represented in government by those who are blind to American history. Issues debated in the 21st century were debated in the 18th century which should have resolved the issue a long time ago. However education fails when profit and power are the main motivations of the bourgoise.

Patrick Henry served as the latter day Republicrat when he suggested to levy a tax to provide support of all Christian churches. The bill was defiantly opposed by President Madison who declared such governmental promotion of religious institutions unconstitutional. Madison won and the Congress soundly voted out the minority voice of Henry and other theocrats. When theocrats suggested to impose the words "Jesus Christ" into Virginia's statute of religious freedom penned by Thomas Jefferson it was instantly defeated by a vast majority. Jefferson commented that "The insertion was rejected by a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mohometan, the Hindoo and the infidel of every denomination."

No doubt Jefferson would have the same to say about placing "under god" into the Pledge of Allegiance. The theocrats would have us believe that god isn't about religion, nor is it about a specific religion but applies equally to the Muslim, Hindu and infidels. They would have us believe that the Founders would have been the first in Congress to stand up and denounce the 9th circuit court's ruling on the matter. And the modern day King Georges in Congress would have us believe that they are upholding the ideals of the Constitution and the Founder's views on religious freedom.

When one Constitution delegate by the name of William Williams proposed the Constitution's preamble by extended to include phrases about God, about our need for God's worship, how we deprive our independence and laws from God and how we must seek his blessings what was the reaction of the Constitutional Congress? The reaction was obvious, the extended Christian preamble doesn't appear in our Constitution but it might as well exist now. The Founders rejected a Christian government, they rejected a government that gave any recognition to a god much less a Christian god or some generic terminology acknowledging the existence of a god. They would have certainly recognized the hypocrisy of a Pledge of Allegiance that respects liberty and justice for all but demands submission to God's authority.

There are two choices for your holiday this year. Pay homage to the usurped government ran by modern day Benedict Arnolds who sold this country's heritage to the forces of theocratic tyranny. Or you can celebrate by honoring the Declaration of Independence by abolishing this form of government which no longer derives it's powers from the people but from the theocratic minority who seek to impose their injustice upon the minds and bodies of the American people.

Since promotion of objective thought is our highest priority, we thought the reader should see an opposing view point to our own. After all, knee jerk reactions, narrow mindeness and blind faith are what has caused 99.999% of all problems in recorded history (the other .001% have been linked directly to the Maggot Punks).

The Missionaries to the Unborn site has an article about the pledge and the importance of independence day as well. We did not get together and plan this. It seemed like the thing to write about at the time. Click here to see the opposing view point. Please note that no link to the Maggot Punks site appears anywhere on the page (I think we thoroughly disgust them…COOL!)!

July 6, 2002 - We had sent an email to the MTTU site asking them to leave their 4th of July commentary up for a while so our visitors could see an opposing view point to our own. They have chosen to take it down. The links above will take you to the MTTU site and you can read critique of rationale that are updated a few times per week.
