If there is anyone struggling to earn the title of Biggest Asshole it's hard to beat Mark Gietzen. He has the leadership ability of a Morlock and is as appealing as a lobbyist for NAMBLA. Gietzen is so slimy that you actually think putting salt on him would make him shrivel up. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who can honestly call him a friend provided that you screen anyone out for needing to be on a prescription to treat a mental illness. Gietzen is the chairman of the fringe group Kansas Coalition for Life. He was the chairman of the Sedgwick County GOP before he was kicked off for being a nut. Gietzen has worked hard to gain the reputation of asshole primarily though his reputation of being a sore loser. When he lost his campaign for the 28th Senatorial District he sued the incumbant and winner Paul Feleciano Jr. (Democrat who received 55% of the vote) In the case of Gietzen v. Feleciano, Gietzen sued his Senator for libel because of these comments in a letter mailed out to potential voters in the district: "Unfortunately, for those of us who will not lie for any reason, the 'political lie' seems to be more |

acceptable than it has ever been. My opponent, Mark Gietzen, is a case in point. Mark's favorite subject for any political discussion is 'family values'. It seems ironic that this strong family advocate has a public record in Kansas courts of being just the opposite. His treatment of his wives show that actions do, indeed, speak louder than words. "In July 1986, Mr. Gietzen was charged with battery (spousal abuse) of his first wife. As a result of this crime he was placed on probation for twelve months, and subsequently was divorced. In August of this year his second wife, of two and a half years, filed for divorce. "If this constitutes Mr. Gietzen's philosophy of 'family values', can we trust his judgment in making decisions that will impact each and every one of you?" The court disagreed that this was paramount to libel because Gietzen, a Catholic who runs under the guise of being pro-family values, is indeed divorced and beat one of his ex-wives. Gietzen appealed this decision but the court of appeals agreed that Gietzen is a filthy wife beater and upheld the decision. The letter should have gone on to say that he is a hypocrite for wanting to force his religious views onto others but openly divorces two wives contrary to Catholic doctrine which forbids divorce (and probably wife beating too). Gietzen's ex-wife suffered numerous bruises and cuts due to this severe beating. Mark gave a no contest plea and served a mere one year on probation yet managed to retain custody of the two children. Why the courts would place these children in the care of a violent offender is beyond me. In 2003, Gietzen was also charged with beating his 8 year old son. The charges stated that Gietzen allegedly repeatedly beat his son's head against the wall and slapped him in the face. Gietzen claimed his innocence and that he didn't abuse his child yet admitted to slapping him in the face three times. Clearly the pro-life side is demonstrating that they only care about life in the womb. Another target of Gietzen's is conservative Christian Republican Tim Shallenburger. Shallenburger lost his campaign to Governor Sebileus because he was considered too conservative. His loss made Gietzen a sore loser so now he attacks Shallenburger for not being conservative enough. Gietzen thinks that it is Shallenburger's job to follow his commands since he worked so hard on two of his campaigns rather than strengthen the Republican party in Kansas. Gietzen wrote the short book, "Is it a sin for a Christian to be a Registered Democratic Voter in America Today?" No doubt his answer is yes but I couldn't be sure as my attempts to purchase the book resulted in an e-mail from Amazon.com saying that the book is no longer in print and no copies are available. Not exactly a best seller I'm assuming. Closer to home Gietzen is annoying the Wichita City Council with his frivilous lawsuits. At a Wichita City Council meeting he's claiming that construction on a bridge near his house is causing severe damage and that the city must pay the damages. The construction was done in the year 2000 and he took this issue to court suing the construction company for damages. Problem is that he dropped the lawsuit (also, none of the other two houses closer to the construction reported any damage). So he was back again years later trying to coerce money from the taxpayers for non-existant damages. Gietzen owns his own business, the Christian Singles Info Exchange. It claims it isn't a dating service and you shouldn't expect results but you should shell out between $25 and $200 to be a member. Gietzen claims former President George H. Bush is an endorser (despite nothing in his quote making reference to the business). Unlike most dating services the starting age requirement is 16 so plenty of pedophiles can look for a nice teenage ass to exploit. Above that you have to fit Mark's political and religious criteria. You have to be pro-life, only interested in marriage, engage in no pre-marital sex and you can't be in prison. Mark likes to take some credit for the decline in divorce in the U.S. despite the fact he was responsible for at least two cases. You gotta wonder, how can a man who was divorced twice be the same sort of person who helps people find their match? At least the questionaire asks if the person is interested in eating out. Oral sex is a good way to get around that 'no-premarital sex' requirement. Mark attends the St. Margaret Mary Parish. Would you like a career with Gietzen? He has openings and he has tried to hire people in the past. Here is the labor contract you must agree to (Gietzen Contract). It may look unusual but keep in mind a lot of conservative Republicans have servants who they like to demean and treat like indentured servants. According to the business website Manta, Gietzen's company has four employees and has $210,000 in sales. With $210,000 in sales from a website service you'd think Mark could buy more than one white shirt. |
