May 31, 2007 Spirit One Under Investigation |
|
For years Spirit One Christian Center and it's defrocked pastor Mr. Mark Holick, has been using it's tax-exempt church sign to campaign against Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Attorney General Paul Morrison. So for many years the Maggot Punks have been taking photos of the signs (sometimes Mark was kind enough to send us pictures) and sending them to the IRS. Well the wheels of bureaucracy have rolled around and Holick is complaining of a letter of inquiry the IRS sent him about the signs. In Holick's complaint he refers to the IRS as a gestapo organization. This is the same organization which gives his business numerous tax breaks with the simple prohibition that he not get involved with political campaigning or he can pay taxes like Operation Rescue was forced to do after we and Catholics for a Free Choice complained. This is from an e-mail sent out by Mr. Holick: "On April 20, 2007 the IRS sent an “inquiry” letter to Spirit One Christian Center (1515 E. Harry St., Wichita, KS, 67211) stating that, “a reasonable belief exists that your organization has engaged in political activities…” They cited our church marquee signs. In specific a sign we put up which read, “Sebelius accepted $300,000.00 from abortionist Tiller, price of 1000 babies.” |

The IRS has turned a Gestapo, speech police, that says if your Christian, there are some things you can not say or preach. The 1st amendment of the Constitution is a respected and renowned oracle celebrated all over the nations of the world. It is quite specific and clear; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press… This is the IRS blatantly limiting the free exorcise of our sincerely held Christian and religious beliefs in the sanctity of life. Even those who disagree with our Christian beliefs should find this bully action by the IRS deplorable. In addition, I am pretty sure “no law” means…well…no law." Yes Mark, the First Amendment does say Congress won't respect an establishment of religion. To do so means you should be taxed like any other business. However Congress passed a law which gave religious organizations tax-exempt status as a priviliage of being in our great nation for the mere exchange that you stay out of the political realm in order to prevent religious conflict in government. You chose to reject that contract with the government which you agreed to when filing for tax-exempt status so the government will revoke the priviliage which you abused. Next time you shouldn't be so cocky and filled with pride. As the Bible says, you sow the wind, you'll reap the whirlwind, and you're full of hot air. |
May 26, 2007 Antis Pay Their Taxes |
| For a short while the Maggot Punks have been following a few antis and their delinquint tax listings. I'm happy to report that one of those names will have to be completely taken off the list. Keith Mason, Troy Newman's Robin, has completely paid off his bill. That leaves two others we've been following, Mark Gietzen (the man whose complete wardrobe consists of a white shirt and black tie he mugged a Mormon elder for), and side show preacher Terry Fox. |
![]() |
| Terry still hasn't paid anything despite his cult house receiving tons of cash to open up a huge church. Then again, I don't think I've written to Ron Estes, Sedgwick County treasurer, about him yet. I'll have to put that on my list of things to do. Terry's tax bill has increased by $22.25. |

The last is Mark Gietzen who still owes quite a bit. However he used to have two listings. He has paid off one of his bills that was $563.08 and has one left to go. That's quite the drop off in debt so he deserves some applause for finally coming through. Keith Mason had a bill of $738.44 which he paid off in full, joining Jan Beemer in getting his name off the list. |
May 23, 2007 Tiahrt Votes for Higher Gas Prices |
Todd Tiahrt, a shill for the dirty energy industries and a rubber stamper for Bush sided with 71 other Republicans to vote against a bill that would allow the U.S. to sue OPEC for manipulating oil prices. The bill, HR 2264 passed with 345 votes making Tiahrt out of touch with not only America but with the rest of Congress on this issue. Despite a drop in oil prices, gas prices continued to rise. This is largely due to oil companies shutting down refineries to cut down on production to artificially raise the cost of gas. Gas prices are often expected to rise in the summer and we already are facing $3.25 at the pump during the Spring. Tiahrt's resposne to our threat to national security by relying heavily on imported oil and the increasing cost of gasoline has been silence. I wrote to Tiahrt to get his support for Democratic efforts to reduce gasoline consumption in America. The form letter I received back essentially said he plans on doing nothing. He listed among his accomplishments getting funding for a ethanol plant to be built in Kansas that would research cellulose ethanol and passing legislation that would require all fuel to have 10% ethanol content. These measures do nothing to reduce consumption. The ethanol plant won't be built for years and there isn't enough ethanol to produce 10% of our supplies (not to mention the low energy benefit from producing ethanol from corn). He specifically mentioned he is against raising CAFE standards that would actually reduce fuel consumption. Why the support for big oil from Tiahrt? It comes as no shock that he receives financial support from the oil industry. For 2006 he received $69,150 from the oil and gas companies. When you go to vote for Representative in 2008 remember that it's Tiahrt who helped keep your gasoline bill high when you drive to the polls. Moveon.org has a petition to sign that will go to Congress to encourage them to do what Tiahrt is paid not to do, lower gas prices by stopping gas gouging. *Update: The house had another gas gouging related vote. HR 1252 that would outright prevent gas gouging at the pump. Tiahrt voted against this bill with 139 other Republicans putting him in the minority again (56 Republicans voted for the bill). Tiarht is telling us once again that he doesn't care if you get completely fucked at the pump because his campaign donors tell him to keep prices high. |
May 19, 2007 Another Failure for Newman |
Back in January Troy claimed to have the backing of Bill O'Reilly and was going to storm Wichita with a huge mass of protesters. That huge number dwindled to less than 30. Troy blamed the poor turnout on the winter weather. So he decided that people will be outraged about abortion even more if the weather is nicer so he rescheduled for May. There weren't any major holidays and that would give him enough time to beg for more money. So it's May and where are the protesters? There turned out to be about a dozen which isn't much more than usually protests outside of Dr. Tiller's clinic (and about half were brought from out of state as special guests). Practically all of them were from out of state including some teenagers from Survivors |

(Jeff White's organization) who spent their time harassing children at a nearby day care. To give an idea of how small the turnout was the local Atheist meetup had more participants than this leading Christian pro-life organization. Seriously, there just isn't much to write about. Even the local media agreed. Troy issues numerous press releases bragging about how he's going to hold this great event and the media thinks of Randall Terry. Perhaps it was a slow news day but some press got out but what they wrote wasn't pretty. "The city braced for crowds that did not materialize," says KAKE-TV. The headline for the Hutchinson News was, "Abortion vigil attendance |
sparse." "Crowds small" mentions the Wichita Eagle. It was essentially a non-event which left the media feeling like they wasted their time on another Troy Newman publicity tour. It doesn't help Troy that extremist nut Bob Enyart ranted against Troy Newman as being a con artist who is just posing as an activist merely for the revenue. This isn't too different from years ago when Troy was one of the cons who used the Terri Shiavo event to raise money. Troy keeps on begging for cash and this is all he has to show for it? What Troy does anyone can do for free but why work for free when you can get a load of cash to buy up real estate and live in a nice house with a lot of cars to drive? Troy's playing the Antis for a bunch of suckers and now people like Bob Enyart and others are sick of it and exposing Troy for the fraud and failure that he is. |
