Exxon, Good for America

Seldom will you hear a liberal say that a huge, multi-billion dollar corporation like Exxon-Mobil, who made more than $25 billion in 2004 by inflating gasoline prices is harmful for America. Sure they gouge the consumers by intentionally closing refineries in order to restrict supply thereby increasing the price. There is now a documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, coming out by President Al Gore which shines the spotlight on pollution and its contribution to global warming. Needless to say a lot of criticism has been directed towards oil companies lately. Exxon says that criticism is undeserved and that they are actually benefiting society. In order to prove their point they produced an advertisement through their front group, the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

The ad is concerning the positive aspects of

Carbon Dioxide (CO2). It's what we breathe out and plants breathe in. The ad points out that without CO2 plants would just die and all life would cease to exist. Therefore Exxon is helping save all life on Earth and it's just an injustice to call CO2 pollution, we should call it life. The planet Venus' atmosphere is composed primarily of CO2 therefore we should assume that life is abundant on that planet.

You see, if we cut carbon dioxide production then our trees will suffer. Sure thousands of acres of rain forest are being cut each day leaving more CO2 for the other trees but isn't that just a preemptive strike against creating a planet with too much oxygen?

There is a danger if we have too much oxygen. Remember the dinosaurs? They lived at a time when there wasn't Exxon and there was way too much oxygen to breathe.

The lizards got huge and ruled the Earth and there wasn't a human in existence. If we cut CO2 emmissions then we can look forward to human extinction as the dinosaurs once again take over our planet.

So don't let those liberal hippy professors who teach in fancy universities tell you we need to be driving fuel efficient cars that reduce emissions. If we lived in their ecotopia we'd be stomped by dinosaurs. Support those who actually support life. Feel good when you spend $80 filling up your SUV because you are fighting a dinosaur armeggedon. Take a long suck on your tail pipe and breathe in Exxon's life giving CO2 and remember to vote for those politicians like Sam Brownback, Pat Roberts and Todd Tiahrt who won't bend to the will of oxygen lovers.
