The History of the OSA/ORW Split

There is a history of conflict between the two major anti-abortion groups in Wichita, Operation Rescue West and Operation Save America. There was once unity but egos and greed clashed and that soon fell apart. The history is interesting, but it isn't well known.

Operation Rescue National, also known as Operation Save America is headed by Flip Benham, himself an angry dry drunk who heads the organization out of state. Locally the group is headed by Daniel Thompson, Donna Lippoldt and Mark Hollick. Back in 2001 plans were being put together for an anniversary event which hoped to parallel Randall Terry's Summer of Mercy seige of Wichita. The event was to be called the Summer of Mercy Renewal.

Troy Newman was invited to the national stragedy meeting back in Feburary of 2001 in an effort to bridge the rift that started during Operation Rescue's downfall when people like Ken Reed, Jeff White and Dan Holman attempted a coup when Randall Terry was in jail. The effort caused a splinter of the organizations. Recently Jeff White's Operation Rescue California was dismantled and turned into Operation Rescue West with Troy Newman as the official head while White and Reed plotted in the background. Troy accepted the invitation and the groups would work together in Wichita in July 2001.

After this event Troy found Wichita a more welcoming home than freedom loving California which had little respect for domestic terrorists. He begged the leadership of OSA to bless his move to Wichita and pledged his obediance to the local leadership. The blessing was given with reservations because Benham didn't fully trust this questionable character but had faith that Troy's dedication to God and the stopping of abortion would be of premier importance.

The distrust was confirmed. Shortly two months after Troy's family moving to Wichita the coalition was splintering. Troy helped spread the seeds of discontent and in the end siphoned off members of OSA to his own organization, others left the movement in disgust. OSA was furious and the two organizations haven't worked together since. From that time Troy hasn't had much success in creating a large organization. He's had to import the majority of his members from California and the majority of the membership is made up of children of ORW's officers.

The documents present are from osawichita.org during a time when OSA was getting bad press and complaints from ORW's tactics. The media, clueless as ever, never bothered to distinguish between the two groups

Troy's charge to Wichita. Essentially the letter of recommendation of Troy and his orders thusforth.

The events of dealing with Troy from beginning to the split

Flip's personal comments on the betrayal of Troy Newman

so OSA released these letters on their webpage. The documents have since been removed but not before the Maggot Punks saved them. It serves as a testimony of when Troy Newman's ego and greed served as his primary motivations for being in the anti-abortion movement, those motivations still serve him today. If anyone from Operation Save America would care to present more damning evidence of Troy Newman and his band of frauds and felons we'll be more than happy to present them here so ORW can be sent packing back to California.

Book of the day: Why Unions Matter by Michael D. Yates Throughout American history the working man and woman has been beset by corporate greed where profits mattered more than the people. The workers organized and unions were formed presenting us with many of the benefits people take for granted today. Everything from overtime pay, the 40 hour work week, holiday pay, vacation time, sick leave, workplace safety, anti-discrimination clauses, etc. were won by the power of the unions. Yates explains why now, more than ever unions are still needed.
