"May his children know the hero that their father is. We are killing a man that had enough love within him to say 'Not today'." - Jeff White advocating the actions of assassin Paul Hill. |
July 27, 2005 TV Nation Adventures |
Whilst reading Michael Moore's Adventures in TV Nation I came across a chapter where he mentioned he had some people go to a leader of Operation Rescue's house and show him some Christian love. Now when I'm talking about Christian love I actually mean honest, good felt, positive love. Michael Moore, afterall, is a non-violent, pacifist Catholic liberal, not one of these 'kill 'em all and let god sort them out' bible thumping fundamentalist Operation Rescue type Christians (yes, we here at the Maggot Punks are able to distinguish the difference and have no problem with progressive, positive religion). Eager to see what all this was about I scoured Ebay in search of the hard to find VHS of the short lived TV Nation. For some reason corporate media didn't care to have someone like Michael Moore criticizing them too much despite having high ratings and bringing in an Emmy. So much for that "liberal media" myth. If the media were actually liberal Moore would have a show right between Al Franken and Phil Donahue. Alas, I digress. TV Nation only lasted four episodes, on the fourth episode Michael had the idea of having people go to a few of the hate groups in the nation and show them some positive love, something they clearly need help with. He sent dancers, singers and such to the Aryan Nations, a KKK rally and Operation Rescue-California leader Jeff White's house to plant flowers. How did Jeff, Troy Newman's friend and mentor, take this display of charity and kindness? Well download the video and have a look for yourself. ----------------->> |
