Operation Rescue West lies so often they are having difficulty keeping their lies straight. The latest lie involves the stillborn death of a fetus named 'Rowan'. On April 2, 2005 a woman in Florida went to abort a stillborn fetus which she named 'Rowan'. She apparently thought she was terminating a 22-week pregnancy, the story isn't quite clear. What is clear is that the stillborn fetus was removed intact, case closed.

Rather than let a woman get away with her grief of not being able to bear a healthy, live child ORW steps in to try to profit from this tragedy and disgrace an abortion doctor in the process. ORW demanded that people provide $3,500 to Operation Rescue in order to get an autopsy done in order to prove that this was an illegal act and Rowan was born alive and forced to die on the birthing table. ORW made this appeal for funds on April 28th.

ORW apparently got the funds because an autopsy was performed and ORW released the results on their website. They didn't like the results where the medical examiner said there was no air in Rowan's lungs therefore it was a stillborn and no

foul play or legal violations took place (self-proclaimed medical expert Troy Newman says otherwise but offers no proof to the contrary).

The autopsy bears the date of April 27th, 2005, one day prior to ORW begging for $3,500 to get this autopsy performed. Why ask for money for an autopsy that was already performed? Also, why ask for money when in Florida, the Office of the Medical Examiner provides autopsies for free in instances of suspecious deaths? The only charges that ORW would need to pay to get a copy of this report is a few cents for making copies of the report, certainly not $3,500.

I sent an e-mail asking another OME in a different district whether or not private funds can be used to perform an autopsy at a public facility, this was there response,

"This office does not perform "private" autopsies in a public facility. Thus, no funds were paid to this office by a private individual, for services performed. Medical Examiner Case number 2005-0546 was not a decedent with the name of Rowan. I also searched our database and did not find any Medical Examiner cases with the name Rowan, either first name or last name.

An autopsy may have been done by a private pathologist, as there are private pathology groups that will perform an autopsy for a fee.

So if a public examiner's office doesn't perform private services, there is no record of Rowan (perhaps it just wasn't entered into the system yet), and the autopsy report was produced a day before ORW begged for funding then where did this $3,500 go? It appears Troy Newman used this event as another means to scam people out of money which no doubt went straight into his pocket. Troy asked that the donations be sent to Operation Rescue West in California but there is no charity of that name in California. According to California law it is illegal for a charity to engage in deceptive tactics to acquire funds (see section 12) .
