We here at the Maggot Punks love to remind our readers how Troy Newman's Operation Rescue West loves to work with felons, terrorists and hypocrites but to give them due credit we've never known them to associate with rapists. Operation Save America on the other hand has no problem with them. In fact they laud them on their website (minus the entire issue of being convicted sex offenders). We speak of no other than Scott Heldreth, long time veteran of Randall Terry's Operation Rescue organization.

Howard Scott Heldreth has been arrested numerous times protesting in front of abortion clinics throughout the nation. His history behind bars includes two cases of rape and kidnapping at the University of Ohio in 1992. Since then he has continued to show his support for women by joining the anti-abortion crusade with Operation Save America because he still believes he knows what's best for women. No doubt he shares OSA's position that abortion isn't acceptable even in the case of rape, afterall, people like Heldreth believes that he still has a choice in what is done with his sperm after it is forcibly injected into a woman against her will. What a sick twit! He believes abortion is morally unacceptable but raping women is perfectly fine. Perhaps he was just deluded by his Bible reading where it says a rape victim must marry his rapist. Perhaps in some twisted fundy logic he figured it was better than taking her out to dinner in the hopes of consensual.

Rape is okay with members of OSA and so is making violent threats to doctors. Hey, no surprise Flip Benham's friend Scott did this as well. Claiming to preach scripture he made the threat to Dr. Aleksander Jakbowski, "You're days are numbered." Goodness, rape and violent threats, good thing this guy found Jesus or else it might get worse.

Oh wait, it does get worse because this asshole managed to find someone to breed with (whether it was consensual or not is up to debate). Yes, Scott has a 10 year old son, Josh. Josh was arrested for attempting to bring water to Terri Schiavo in a planned publicity stunt to get media attention and public sympathy. I doubt many in public sympathized with parents using their children as political pawns but no doubt Scott wasn't willing to get arrested

again with the sort of record he has.

Josh has been brainwashed by his father and incorporated into the fundamentalist mindset. Getting arrested for Jesus means the fundy will get a closer seat at God's table in heaven. No doubt Josh will grow up to either be a doctor killer or will end up killing a bunch of classmates when he wakes up to the realization that he was spawned to be a tool for his fucked up father to be a shiny new toy that he can impress all his fundy friends with at a church show-and-tell.

Does it seem kinda twisted that these are the people who claim to be the moral voice for the nation and the Republican party? In a few days it will all be over but the faux rage and faux sympathy for someone they never gave a rat's ass about for five years finally dies. Fox news (speaking of Faux) will go on a tireless rampage, preachers will slam their Bibles even harder, and the neo-cons will pass laws making their Big Brother government even bigger. The Bush regime says to err on the side of life but I'm sure they put a few footnotes that the exceptions are the death penalty and starting wars for oil. George and Jeb have no problem executing people on death row whether they are innocent or not, Tom Delay had no problem pulling the plug on his own father when he was critically ill, hundreds of Republicans had no problem denying health care coverage to millions of Americans. The Republican party and the antis have to be the biggest bunch of rabid vegetarians on the planet.
