--the comment that got Howard Stern kicked off numerous stations throughout the country. Freedom of speech isn't tolerated by the Bush regime. Kansas Senator Sam Brownback is leading the crusade to silence Stern in a modern day McCarthyistic charge to burn all Bush opponents as heretics.

It is time again to begin the Maggot Punks grassroots movement to remove fascist, right-wing, pro-theocratic candidates from office. Our primary target is Representative Todd Tiahrt, but we'd be equally as happy to see State Senator 'don't talk about sex in Kansas' Susan Wagle, Senator Sam 'the media is run by godless Jews' Brownback, and Board of Education chair Chip 'schooldays should begin with prayers to my god' Gramke. Everyone of these candidates hate freedom of speech, hate freedom of religion, and hate freedom of choice. It is our hope that if we target one candidate we can get voters to think that anyone similar to Tiahrt in ideology is just as bad.

First of all why should the Maggot Punks engage in a campaign

against Tiahrt and not Bush? That's a good question. Bush is pretty much going to carry Kansas. That is accepted as a given. The polls in Kansas show Bush still carries over a 60% approval rating despite Bush's efforts to send tens of thousands of Kansas jobs to China and to bankrupt Kansas farmers. The Maggot Punks are located in Wichita so it makes sense to focus on local political issues as we will have more of an affect changing minds in Wichita rather than somewhere like Hays or Lawrence.

Rep. Tiahrt is the representative for Wichita. Wichita suffers from low voter turnout. Higher voter turnout means more votes for Tiahrt's opposition. Since Tiahrt voted with Bush 99% of the time (only opposing him once when Bush tried to remove overtime pay because too many of Tiahrt's supporters would have lost those union wages that Tiarht hates) a vote against Tiahrt is a vote against Bush. We began our campaign with a drive to get 50 previously unregistered voters to register to vote, we have exceeded that goal with 108 people signed up. We hope to expand that to 500 but to do that will mean reaching further into our pockets than we can afford, hence the shameless appeal for funding from our viewers.

In 2002 the Maggot Punks successfully kept trumpet blowing blowhard Richard Jacobson from getting into office by distributing 400 flyers throughout the Riverside Community helping him lose in a landslide. We passed out over 300 flyers in Old Town and

Wichita State University, Annie Sprinkles and D-cubed went door to door in the poorest section of Wichita encouraging people to vote on election day. Our efforts to get Tiahrt out of office were small and ineffective because we weren't able to donate much of our meager resources into it. This year we are more seasoned and have expanded our organization's volunteers five fold.

Our plan this year is to increase number of flyers we get out ten fold. We'll begin much earlier so people have time to register to vote. We hope to run advertisements in progressive publications that target the 18-30 crowd. We have a weapon in our arsenal that we hope will generate enough outrage to get the public's attention (don't worry, it isn't illegal, just something the theocrats will find extremely annoying).

In the past we have uncovered illegal actions on the part of the antis to get people to vote for their candidates (tax exempt Operation Save America endorsed Carlos Mayans for Wichita mayor) like tax exempt Spirit One Christian Center with their political advertisement against Kathleen Sebelius (current pro-choice governor of Kansas). Already Immanuel Baptist Church illegally works together with the Kansas Republican Party and tells people whom to vote for in sermons from behind the pulpit. The IRS chooses to do nothing which means we have to work harder.

Our current needs will require between $200 and $300 in funding to lead an effective campaign. This is nothing compared to the $1000

a plate fundraiser's that fascist goons like Tiahrt has. You have our thanks and appreciation.
